5-week class

(Redirected from 5-week)
A 5-week class is one that goes for only half of a term. They are generally worth 3 credits.
Some departments make heavy use of 5-week classes, while others avoid them entirely. Most notably, the Physics Department splits most of it classes into sequences of two 5-week classes, which are normally taught by different professors and taken by students in the same term. For example, the intro for majors consists of two parts: Either Physics 113 (Fall) or Physics 114 (Winter) for the first half of the term, and then Physics 115 for the second half.
The Drop/Add period for 5-week classes is the Friday of First Week for classes in the first half of the term and Friday of Sixth Week for classes in the second of the term.
