Astronomy Department

The Astronomy Department was formerly an academic department at Carleton that offered the astronomy major. It also awarded five Ph.D.'s in astronomy during the 1890's.
In 1950 the Astronomy Department was merged with the Mathematics Department to form the Mathematics and Astronomy Department due to budget constraints. In 1967 it was merged with the Physics Department to form the Physics and Astronomy Department.
