The CLAP (an abbreviation of Carleton Literary Association Paper), is in many ways a parody of the Carletonian. It features both "real" and "fake" stories, differentiated by choice of font. It accepts a wide variety of news stories, editorials, fiction, and poetry, although its content is mostly humorous.

The CLAP was founded in the 2002-2003 academic year and perhaps rivaled the Carletonian in article quality, stealing away many potential Carletonian contributors. After several typos appeared in the Carletonian, the CLAP editors challenged the Carletonian to an "edit-off," but within several weeks the CLAP published a few typos of its own. After the CLAP's founder graduated in 2003, the publication switched from an 8 1/2" x 11" newspaper-style format to a booklet-style format. The CLAP also appeared to employ photocopying to lay out its pages instead of computerized desktop publishing, which it used in its first year.
