History
Jesse James robbery
The Northfield Historical Society museum is near the corner of Fourth and Division in the building once housing the First National Bank which the James-Younger Gang tried to rob in 1876. It is on Division Street, in front of the former bank location, where the attempted bank robbery is reenacted several times a day during Defeat of Jesse James Days.
The events related to Jesse James' robbery are depicted in the film The Great Northfield, Minnesota Raid, possibly the only feature-length film to mention the town of Northfield in its title.
