The Education and Curriculum Committeee (ECC) is an advisory body for matters of academic policy, one of four permanent college committees under the current governance structure. It consists of the Dean of College (chair), a faculty co-chair, five other elected faculty members, and five students (including one CSA senator).

All members of the ECC vote on its recommendations. However, all educational policy decisions are made by vote of the faculty, in faculty meetings that occur every two weeks. Since faculty meetings are not normally open to students, the ECC serves partly to collect student input. ECC meetings are traditionally open to everyone. They occur every second Wednesday at 4:30 PM in Upper Sayles.

History

The ECC was formed in 1992 to replace the Educational Policy Committee (EPC), which had four students, seven faculty, and three administrators. The newer arrangement therefore gives students much greater proportional representation.
