Fall Term
From CarlWiki
Fall Term is the first term of the academic year. It takes place at the end of the calendar year, whereas Winter Term takes place at the beginning of the next year. For example, Fall Term 2004 was followed by Winter Term 2005. In between Fall Term and Winter Term is Winter Break.

Weather
The weather varies widely during Fall Term, with the beginning in September consisting of hot, humid Minnesotan summer, followed by a gradual drop in temperatures over the next few weeks. Some of the most pleasant Minnesota weather is to be experienced in late September, October, and early November. The east side of Northfield around the campus is awash in fall color provided by deciduous trees, many of them maples. Winter storms are possible beginning the last week in October. (Fourteen inches of snow fell on Halloween in 1991.) Despite this, Carleton has not had a closing due to weather in decades. Students frequently leave for winter break without having seen a snowfall.
