Marsha (Garbisch) Harbison '67

Marsha Harbison, a native of Austin, MN, came to Carleton with a name familiar on campus. Her sisters came to Carleton in 1960 and 1962. (Their parents were Carleton students in the late 1930s.)
Harbison was a music major and a violinist in the Carleton orchestra. After graduation, she earned a masters degree at the Julliard School.
She teaches violin, is assistant concertmaster of the Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra, and is a founder and artistic director of the Longmeadow (MA) Chamber Music Society.
In 2009, Harbison and her sisters were among the first ten inductees in the Austin High School Music Hall of Fame (also recognized at that time was Northfield composer Daniel Kallman).
