Minneapolis-St. Paul
From CarlWiki
Minneapolis and St. Paul, commonly called the Twin Cities or just the Cities, form the most highly-populated area in Minnesota and the 15th-largest metropolitan area in the United States as of the 2000 census.
Minneapolis is the largest city in the state, and St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota. The two are close enough that it is easily possible to drive from one to the other without being aware of it. Since 27% of Carleton students are residents of Minnesota (as of 2006), it should come as no surprise that many Carleton students hail from the Twin Cities.
Bands from the Twin Cities commonly perform at The Cave.
Transportation
Northfield is about 20 miles south of the metropolitan area; the Mall of America is slightly closer. St. Paul is home to both the nearest airport and the nearest train station.
- The drive from the Carleton campus takes about 35-45 minutes.
- The Co-op Bus travels to and from downtown St. Paul, as well as the airport and nearby Mall of America.
