The Modern Language Center (MLC), or "Language Lab", was a temporary building that for many years housed tools and equipment used for language, including a satellite TV, shortwave radio, and a small computer lab with software specifically geared toward writing in foreign languages.

In design, it was similar to the science annex (a.k.a. the "Psych Shack"), and could be found nestled between the Arena Theater, Mudd and Nourse. The opening of the Language and Dining Center in 2001 made the MLC obsolete. It was moved to the upper arb adjacent to Parr House, and currently serves as the Arb Office. A picture of the old building is available here.
