Mr. Smith is a drinking game for a moderately large (6-20) group of players. The only object/goal of the game is to get drunk and have fun. Like all drinking games, players run the risk of drinking to extreme if they aren’t careful.

Mr. Smith

One player is designated as “Mr. Smith”. Mr. Smith is the creator, enforcer, and decider of the rules. Mr. Smith can make whatever changes to the rules he/she decides, and can enforce infractions of the rules by ordering a player to drink a number of sips (or chug) their beer/drink. Mr. Smith can also enforce decorum, such as talking/chatting, or leaving the room. The initial Mr. Smith is usually decided by an opening chug-off.

Play

All players sit in a circle or ring with their drink. The first player (decided by Mr. Smith) begins the count at “one”, and points, with their arms crossed in front of them, to the players on either side of them. Play progresses in the direction of the top arm of the person pointing. The next person counts “two”, and so on. Missing your turn, pointing incorrectly, or otherwise screwing stops play and may be enforced by Mr. Smith.

Fuck

There is no number “four” in Mr. Smith. Instead of saying “four”, players should say, “fuck”. This is the same for higher numbers, “fuckteen, twenty-fuck, and fuckty”. It is in poor taste to either say “fuck” and point to Mr. Smith during play, or to point to Mr. Smith after “three” which would force Mr. Smith to say “fuck”. This may be enforced by Mr. Smith.

In the same way, the word “fuck” is not a swear word and should be replaced by the word “four” when swearing or insulting another player. This may be enforced by Mr. Smith.

Ten, Twenty, etc.

On a number ending with “0” (ten, twenty, fuckty), a player says the number and has three options. They can either continue play as normal, stand and insult a player in the room, or challenge Mr. Smith in a chug-off to determine the next Mr. Smith (although you shouldn’t challenge Mr. Smith after saying “fuckty”).

If a player opts to insult another player, they need to be as original and creative as possible. If they’re good, Mr. Smith can order the insulted person to drink. If the insult was poor, or broke the “fuck” rule, Mr. Smith can order the insulter to drink. It is usually in poor taste to insult Mr. Smith, may result in enforcement. However, if the player decides to compliment Mr. Smith instead, Mr. Smith may order everyone else to drink, unless the compliment is poorly worded in which case Mr. Smith may order the player to drink for brownnosing.

If a player opts to attempt a challenge to Mr. Smith, they must word it in as humble and respectful way as possible. Mr. Smith decides if they want to accept the challenge or order the person to drink. Mr. Smith sets the amounts in each glass for the chug-off. Of course, Mr. Smith will only lose this challenge if Mr. Smith wants to lose.

Ending the Game

The game usually ends when players get bored, too drunk, or annoyed with the current Mr. Smith and decide to stop playing.
