A prospective student, also called a "prospie," is a visitor to the college who is considering applying, or who has already applied and is trying to weigh Carleton against other options. A typical prospie is a high school student who will visit Carleton on a weekend (or other vacation from school), attend an information session and a tour, and possibly stay overnight. These tours are often conducted by the Schiller Society. Occasionally, overnight prospies have been known to become drunk and end up at Northfield Hospital.

The most common time for students who have already been accepted to visit Carleton is Accepted Students Weekend.
