Steve Richardson '86

Steve Richardson '86 was named Director of the Arts by Carleton in October 2007.
Before his Carleton appointment, Richardson was marketing director for Theatre IV and marketing associate at Theatre Virginia, both in Richmond, Va. Beginning in 1990, he worked at Theatre de la Jeune Lune in Minneapolis. In 1995, he became producing director at the theater company. He was involved in all aspects of the theater, including marketing and public relations, fundraising, touring and co-productions, strategic planning, community partnership management and budget oversight. Theatre de la Jeune Lune won a 2005 Tony Award for outstanding regional theater during his tenure there.
Director of the Arts
Director of the Arts is a new position at the college. Richardson is expected to work with faculty and students to develop innovative collaborations in the arts, seeking ways to integrate the arts across the College’s curriculum.
He will be responsible for management of the Arts Union and coordinating major art events. He will also help select and produce performance and exhibition series.
The college expects Richardson, as Director of the Arts, to promote arts outreach to local schools, the Northfield arts community, the Twin Cities area arts community, and beyond.
During the development of the Arts Union, Richardson will be the liaison between the College’s faculty and building design team.
