Stewsie Island is the smaller of the two islands in the lower Lyman Lake. It, along with Mai Fete Island, was formed from sediment and soil dreged up during the creation of the lakes.

The island was named in honor of D. Blake Stewart, long time Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.

In 2002, a meditative labyrinth was built on the island, replacing a seldom used picnic area.
