Superlounge

The Superlounge is the largest dorm lounge on campus, in the form of a large glass-walled annex to Goodhue Hall. It was home to Goodhue Dining Hall until 1999. The earliest reference to the name 'SuperLounge' is in the Feb. 18, 2000 edition of The Carl; however, its appearance in The Carl then indicates that the name was already in widespread use on campus.

Currently, the Superlounge offers a big-screen TV, one pool table, one table tennis table, vending machines, and a large amount of space suitable for events. Like all dorm lounges, it can be reserved in advance for specific occassions, and is free for use by those with a Carleton ID card during times when it is not reserved. (As the Superlounge is considered part of the dorm, it can only be accessed using an ID card, though students, staff, and faculty may allow others in.) A list of current reservations and available times is posted next to the entrance.

Although frequently used for parties, the Superlounge is designated as an alcohol-free space. Also, because noise carries easily from the Superlounge to the rest of Goodhue, it is subject to the same quiet hours requirements as dorm area.

The college plans to add wireless access to the Superlounge, but this has not been activated.
