I will try to take some better pictures when the weather gets better in Northfield. I'll consider requests if you have any. Ken Wedding '67

I was curious as the plans mentioned in the 2007 section about demolishing Laird and moving the administrative offices to Willis. I browsed around Caucus, the Carleton site, and the Internet in general, but couldn't find anything referencing this. It's a bit distressing to me that they would get rid of Laird. The building certainly has issues, but I'd hope they would think twice before clearing away such an attractive icon of the college. In my opinion, the administration has a responsibility to retain the nice-looking campus architecture in order to atone for Myers/Musser.

Download and read the Campus Plan from 2005 http://apps.carleton.edu/campus/facilities/plan/

I went through the plan again... I'd read it before to do research for a Carletonian article. I don't see anything in there about demolishing Laird Hall, although they do discuss demolishing Laird Stadium when it comes up for reinvestment (as they put it). I'm not saying you're wrong on this point... I've talked to a few professors who have said as much. I'd just be interested in seeing it in writing. The College's lack of transparency when it comes to campus direction is a bit frustrating. Sure, we can access resources such as the campus plan published by an outside consulting group, but when it comes to more immediate priorities and plans for the campus, we can only listen through the grapevine.
