Talk:Sys/Net

I've merged the content from Sys/Net to this article (which existed first) and replaced all references to "Sys/Net" with "SysNet," because SysNet appears to be the more common term. (A Google search of carleton.edu for "Sys/Net" gets 14 hits, while a search for "SysNet" gets 25 hits. If one term or the other is much more official, though, then that one should be used.) --Trevor Burnham '07 11:38, 24 Mar 2005 (PST)

Also, I've removed the list of student workers, because this is arguably a violation of student privacy. Although I'm not sure whether that information is protected by FERPA (the Carleton.edu page on the subject [1] doesn't mention campus employment as protected), I'm sure some students would rather not allow anyone in the world to know that the work, or have worked, in SysNet. I've kept former and current SysNet workers who are CarlWiki contributors because they presumably don't mind making this information available. --Trevor Burnham '07 12:30, 24 Mar 2005 (PST)

Trevor, I'd prefer Sys/Net because that is the more offical Carleton term. The slash should be present. --Michael Moore '06 08:01, 4 Apr 2005 (PDT)

  • The reason I moved the page to SysNet was that primarily that a Google search for "SysNet" gets 25 hits, versus 14 for "Sys/Net"; however, for both searches, all of the pages appear to be either down (the sysnet.carleton.edu domain appears to be nonfunctional) or obsolete. (A search on the ITS section of Carleton.edu gets zero hits for either term, though it's incapable of making sense of the slash.) So, I'll take your word on it. --Trevor Burnham '07 13:47, 4 Apr 2005 (PDT)

Thanks. sysnet.carleton.edu no longer exists - it's been replaced by a different internal website. --Michael Moore '06 14:17, 4 Apr 2005 (PDT)
