The Libe

The Libe (rhymes with "tribe") is Carleton lingo for Gould Library, the main library at Carleton. The term is often used whimsically. For example, the team that submitted the DVD Fest 2005 entry "Comps Blues" used "4th Libe" as both its official team name and floor name, implying that they were living on the main floor of the Library at the time.

Like much of Carleton's lingo, the term has taken on a semi-official nature. As of March 2005, a Google search of carleton.edu for "libe" finds 116 results, including CSA minutes, the Media Services site, and course syllabi.

Some have jokingly suggested using the term Brar instead.
