Urban legends
From CarlWiki
Carleton, like most colleges, includes its share of urban legends. Here are some of the better known:
Owen Jenkins
Legend: Professor of English Owen Jenkins once returned a student's writing assignment cut into strips — one for each sentence — to illustrate his disapproval of the quality of the writing. Alternate version: Owen Jenkins returned a paper in a trash bag.
Facts: Professor Jenkins was well-known for his unorthodox approach to teaching rhetoric. However, Ben Darrow '95 reported,[1] "As OJ's writing assistant, I asked him if he had ever returned a student's paper cut up. He said, "Nope.""
