Welcome to CarlWiki, Chris! Thanks for your contributions so far, and I hope that you will make many more in the future. --Trevor Burnham '07 12:56, 17 March 2006 (PST)
Hey Chris, how are the wife and kids doing?--Dan Fehler '95 12:51, 25 April 2006 (PDT)

Spam
Thanks for removing that spam, Chris. It makes a difference. I'm checking every day to make sure no new spam gets through, and I hope that the rest of it will be gone in the near future. --Trevor Burnham '07 14:15, 20 March 2006 (PST)
No problem, Trevor. -Chris
- Thanks again for your vigilance. I've done a major update of the wiki's software, including some updates on the spam filters. Also, I just remembered the existence page which you'll find extremely time-saving in your future spam-fighting efforts: CarlWiki:Spam blacklist. It's an admin-editable page that blocks edits containing those domain names. Obviously, only domains that are used exclusively in spam should be used. --Trevor Burnham '08 06:42, 30 March 2007 (BST)
Academic years
Chris, if you want a new academic year created, I can do it with a simple command using Template bot; that also ensures consistency. So, please just ask. I hope to expand the academic years in the future, but I don't know what terms were called before 1962-1963. Fall Term and Spring Term? If you could find that out for sure, then I could go back several decades further. --Trevor Burnham '07 13:32, 3 May 2006 (PDT)
Housing
Thanks for your fastidious work on the wiki, Chris. (I haven't been contributing much myself since I'm currently in New Orleans, doing volunteer teaching work, but right now I'm on a computer.) I see that you've bumped into some contradictions with housing. I'm sorry that things aren't as well-organized or consistent as they could be. For example, are townhouses any houses that are off-campus, or are they only the houses in a particular area, commonly referred to as the town houses? Or is the criterion whether spots in the houses are drawn in Room Draw?
The inconsistencies are in part because the college itself doesn't have a consistent categorization scheme. So I've tried to produce one, as describe in Category:Housing and its subcategories. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements on this system. I hope that it will become more relevant by next year's Room Draw. --Trevor Burnham '07 21:30, 24 July 2006 (BST)
Hey Chris, if you get bored again check out http://www.wikimapia.org/. Its a tagable Google Map, so you can link to locations of the campus buildings. You could also connect your housing articles to Google Map locations, it'd help us old timers remember which houses were which.--Dan Fehler '95 19:58, 31 July 2006 (BST)
- YES! I have been trying to figure out how to get Google Maps to do something like that for weeks now! This week is looking too busy, but maybe next week I can get that taken care of...--Chris Johnson '96 20:46, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Coming up
Thanks for keeping the Coming Up up-to-date, Chris! I wish you'd abridge it a bit, though; it's a bit clutter-y on the front page, as it stands now. I'm hoping that in the future, the Current events page will be used for a comprehensive listing of things coming up soon, while the CarlWiki:Coming up page will be used only for the most salient bits. Of course, that would require a large amount of effort from students, and I don't really expect that ball to get rolling until I'm back on campus. --Trevor Burnham '08 04:41, 19 September 2006 (BST)
Admin status
I've gone ahead and approved your request for admin status, which means, among other things, that you can delete pages and undo vandalism by simply clicking "Revert." Thank you for keeping CarlWiki going during the current lull in activity; I promise that when I get back on campus in September, if not sooner, CarlWiki will be revitalized. (One thing to look forward to: We're going to be featured in the next issue of the Voice.) --Trevor Burnham '08 21:33, 16 October 2006 (BST)
- Thank you, Trevor, it's been a blast working on this project. And I'm really looking forward to that article in the Voice. It should get a lot more alums like me interested. I tried (to no avail) to get a number of people interested at my 10-year reuntion in the spring; hopefully, they'll see how much bigger this has gotten and contribute their knowledge. --Chris Johnson '96 21:36, 16 October 2006 (BST)
