Spring Term 2000
- The Recreation Center near Goodhue Hall was opened on April 3, 2000. It had cost approximately $15 million to construct.
- The Class of 2000 graduated from Carleton. Then-President Bill Clinton spoke at commencement. Wily students had managed to get the bust of Schiller to the President beforehand, apparently unknown to the administration, who on the morning of Commencement were exhorting the holders of Schiller not to "run" Schiller across the stage due to the snipers posted to protect the President. Graduating seniors were also told not, under any circumstances, to hug the President.
