Zoo Book

A Zoo Book (sometimes spelled "Zoobook") is a booklet created by the College each fall, listing students new to Carleton. Each entry is accompanied by the student's photo, hometown, and high school (if appropriate). Zoo Books are distributed to each new student, in order that they may learn the names and faces of classmates. Carleton Zoo Books have been handed out since the 1950's and serve as an important photographic archive of each class. They have recently become less useful to new students with the 2003 introduction of StalkerNet.
The Zoo Book may also contains the pictures and names of some new staff members. For example, the Zoo Book distributed in Fall 2002 contained both the new President of the College Robert Oden and the new Dean of the College Shelby Boardman.
